I've been a devoted flutist since 1977, although I am wholly an ear player. Improvisation is my specialty, that is and I humbly submit, if I have any specialty at all. My earliest inspirations stem from The Blues, Rock and Jazz music. I have admired and so, studied many world traditions of indigenous flute music. I play silver concert flute, alto, bass (and even the dreaded piccolo). My love of the organic tone of bamboo and wood, has drawn me to explore: Indian bansuri, Japanese shakuhachi, Andean quena, Chinese xiao & dizi... as well as European classical recorders and Native American flutes. For myself, playing the flute is both a form of deeply personal, artistic expression and is also and far more importantly... a very direct spiritual path. Music is the breath of life.
